Sport Resolutions Virtual Conference 2021 in association with Winston & Strawn LLP will take place on Tuesday 23rd March 2021 / 13.00 GMT via Zoom Webinar.

As with past events we will have an esteemed panel of sport professionals and industry experts to discuss the latest news and ideas in the areas of anti-doping, athlete welfare, good governance and integrity. 

This year's conference will be hosted by esteemed broadcaster Jacqui Oatley MBE.

For the Q&A after Travis’s presentation we will be joined by UKAD Chief Executive Nicole Sapstead and British Athletes Commission Chair Vicki Aggar - please note that event programme/format may be changed slightly to accommodate all speakers.

Jacqui Oatley MBE

Jacqui Oatley MBEPresenter

Jacqui Oatley MBE is an experienced broadcaster on UK television, radio and digital platforms. 19 years after changing career to retrain as a broadcast journalist, Jacqui now presents on ITV - as anchor of their PDC darts coverage - and covers football for Sky Sports, BBC and The Athletic. She became the first female commentator on Match of the Day in 2007.

As a former player and FA qualified coach, Jacqui has presented and commentated on the biggest football tournaments, including men’s and women’s World Cups and Euros, as well as the Olympic Games.

Jacqui is on the national committee of the Football Writers’ Association and is an ambassador for Women in Football - an organisation which champions the role of women in the game.

John Mousinho

John MousinhoSpeaker

John Mousinho is an English football player who currently plays as a defender for the League One club Oxford United. Mousinho began his professional football career at Brentford, having previously played for Chesham United and Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the latter whilst studying at the University of Notre Dame. He spent two-and-a-half years at Brentford, before joining Wycombe Wanderers in June 2008 where he witnessed a promotion during his tenure.

He joined Stevenage in 2010 and helped guide the club to back-to-back promotions in his first year, scoring the winner in the 2010–11 League Two play-off final, as well as finishing as the club's joint top goal scorer for the season. Mousinho joined Burton Albion in 2014 where he played for over three seasons, winning the League Two title in his first season and promotion to the Championship a year later.

Mousinho sits on the PFA Players’ Board and he was part of the independent selection panel which chose a four-person independent advisory panel to oversee the recruitment process of the PFA’s next Chief Executive.

Nicola Greaney

Nicola is an experienced advocate in civil, public and regulatory law. She is a member of 39 Essex Chambers Sports Law group. Nicola acts for claimants and defendants in personal injury and clinical negligence claims. She has substantial experience in high value catastrophic injury, including brain injury (TBI), spinal injury and complex psychological/psychiatric injury.  

She has an interest in safeguarding issues as a result of her involvement in historic abuse litigation in the civil field, as well as her public law work involving abuse of vulnerable adults and children. She has experience in safeguarding issues in sport whether in the context of sports arbitrations or civil claims; injury claims arising in the sporting context including TBI as well as claims for historic sexual or physical abuse; disciplinary cases in the sporting context; GDPR and confidentiality issues in the sporting context; claims for damages for misuse of private information and/or breaches of the Data Protection Act and the Human Rights Act. 

Recent highlights include a high profile, confidential investigation into safeguarding issues in the employment law context, in particular GDPR issues and disclosure obligations; sexual abuse claims raising issues of consent, vicarious liability and limitation; disciplinary cases where the allegations concern inappropriate sexual misconduct/abuse of position.

Dr Barry O’Driscoll

Barry graduated from Manchester University Medical School. His career has been in Sports Medicine, Primary Care and Occupational Medicine. A former Ireland Rugby International his long time interest has been concussion and doping in sport and he is a Fellow of the Faculty of Sport & Exercise Medicine.

Barry was Chairman of IRFU Medical Committee and sat on the World Rugby Medical & Concussion Committees for 12 years representing them at the Zurich and Prague World Congresses on Concussion in Sport. In 2012 he resigned from his appointments with World Rugby and IRFU on account of their policy of a 5 minute assessment of the rugby player with suspected concussion.

Barry was a Specialist Member of UK National Anti-Doping Panel and International Tennis Federation Anti-Doping panel. He was also a member of the RFU Disciplinary Panel.

Ed Lodge

Ed Lodge is the founder and Chief Executive of CSx, head injury assessment software which helps track individuals’ brain health over time and screen for sudden changes after a potential brain injury that may require additional medical attention.

Prior to founding CSx, Ed has conceived and developed other technology start-ups including an altitude simulator company in NZ and the US (working with leading Nike trainers, Athletes, Velocity Sports Performance and Special Forces members) and Wearable Tech with E2 Ltd and now CSx .

Ed’s background prior to his involvement with technology start-ups is in physiotherapy and sports medicine working with elite athletes and international rugby teams giving him a comprehensive understanding of the issues and opportunities with performance sport as well as the perfect contact base to make those ideas successful.

Brett Clothier

Brett Clothier is the Head of the Athletics Integrity Unit, the independent body that manages all integrity related issues for the sport of athletics. The AIU became operational in 2017 following changes to the IAAF (now World Athletics) Constitution. These changes enshrined the operational independence of the AIU from World Athletics and put in place an independent Board to oversee its functions.

Mr Clothier has worked in sport integrity for more than 15 years. Prior to becoming the inaugural Head of the AIU, Mr Clothier worked in Australia as Head of Competition Integrity for the Australian Football League (AFL) and Legal Counsel to the Integrity Services Department of Racing Victoria.

Peter Crowther

Peter Crowther serves as managing partner of Winston & Strawn’s London and Brussels offices. Widely recognised as a leading competition and trade lawyer, a significant part of his practice involves working within the firm’s market leading global sports law practice.

Peter handles a wide range of sports matters including governance issues, complaints and investigations relating to athlete welfare, performance development, funding, selection, classification, doping, and athlete agreements.

Peter also advises on commercial agreements including in respect of tournaments, athlete boycotts, and related competition issues.

Travis Tygart

Travis T. Tygart has worked with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) for more than 15 years and became USADA’s Chief Executive Officer in September of 2007. As CEO, Tygart works closely with the USADA Board of Directors to carry out the organization’s mission of preserving the integrity of competition, inspiring true sport, and protecting the rights of clean athletes. Tygart has also reached out and made himself available to many Olympic athletes, embracing them as an essential part of the fight against doping.

Under Tygart’s leadership, some of USADA’s most significant efforts to protect clean athletes have come in the form of major investigations. Working alongside federal authorities, USADA investigated the international steroid bust, Operation Raw Deal, and the international doping conspiracy involving the BALCO laboratory in San Francisco. Tygart also led the investigation into the U.S. Postal Service pro-cycling team doping conspiracy and spearheaded the publication of the Reasoned Decision in the Lance Armstrong case.

Tygart’s tenure as CEO also produced the groundbreaking research on the importance of true sport: “What Sport Means in America,” and the “TrueSport Report.”

Nicole Sapstead

Nicole was appointed as Chief Executive of UKAD in March 2015. Formerly UKAD’s Director of Operations, she was responsible for the delivery of the organisation’s testing, intelligence and investigations, and science and medicine functions.

Nicole has worked in anti-doping since 1997, and has previously worked at the Drug Control Centre at King’s College, and in various roles in the Drug-Free Sport department at UK Sport, before joining UKAD on its formation in 2009.

Victoria Aggar

Victoria is a retired Paralympic athlete who has won World Titles in 2006 and 2009 as well as a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games. Named as one of the ‘Top 20 Most Influential Women in British Sport’, Victoria has remained actively involved in high performance sport since retiring and has recently been re-elected for a second 4-year term as Chair of the British Athletes Commission. Prior to this, Victoria worked as Athlete Services Manager at the British Paralympic Association and now remains close to Paralympic Sport by sitting on the BPAs performance advisory group. 

Victoria is also a non-executive Director on the board at the English Institute of Sport and in March 2020 was appointed as a board member on Athletics Integrity Unit. Victoria continues her quest for clean sport in this new role. She had previously been a member on World Anti- Doping Agency (WADA) athlete committee but resigned early in the second term in protest of their dealings with the state sponsored doping in Russia.
