Decision Details

A decision in the matter of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) v Mr Kipyegon Bett has been issued by the Disciplinary Tribunal. Mr Kipyegon, a middle-distance runner from Kenya faced two charges brought by the Ahtletics Integrity Unit (AIU) under the IAAF Anti-Doping Rules (ADR): the first; a refusal or failure to submit to Sample collection (without compelling justification) after notification on 24 February 2018, and the second relating to the presence of recombinanterythropoietin (“r-EPO”) in a urine sample collected from him on 31 July 2018.

The Tribunal found Mr Bett to have violated articles 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 of the ADR. In accordance with article 10.7.4.(a), the anti-doping rule violations (ADRVs) were considered as one single ADRV for sanctioning purposes. A four year period of Ineligibility has been imposed on Mr Bett, which shall run from 15 August 2018 and shall end on 14 August 2022.
