Decision Details
A decision in the case of Jamie Jones v The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) has been published by an Appeals Committee appointed by Sport Resolutions. Mr Jones was charged by the WPBSA with breaches of the WPBSA Members Rules and Regulations in relation to the fixing of a match that took place on 29 September 2016 at the International Championship Qualifiers.
The WPBSA found Mr Jones had failed to report an approach to Mr John for Mr John to fix his match and Mr Jones was sanctioned for a period of 12 months, and was ordered to pay £9,000 in costs. Mr Jones appealed against the severity of the sanction imposed by the WPBSA Disciplinary Committee and the order for costs.
On 2nd April 2019, Graeme McPherson QC acting as the Independent Appeals Committee dismissed the appeal by Mr Jones against the sanction, however reduced the costs order from £9,000 to £6,500 and ordered Mr Jones to pay £3,665 towards the WPBSA costs of the appeal.
