Decision Details
On 15 April 2017, rugby union player Craig Hoare of Spartans RFC was subject to an In-Competition test at a match versus Old Whitgiftians. Analysis of Mr Hoare’s urine sample returned an Adverse Analytical Finding for Drostanolone (and its metabolite 2a-methyl-5a-androstan-3a-ol-17-one) and Methylhexaneamine. Mr Hoare was subsequently charged with an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) for the Presence of Prohibited Substances under World Rugby Regulation 21.2.1.
The NADP Tribunal consisting of Mark Hovell (Chairman), Gordon McInnes and Carole Billington-Wood determined that Mr Hoare failed to establish that the ADRV was unintentional, imposing the standard sanction of 4 (four) year’s period of Ineligibility.
Mr Hoare’s ban will run from 5 May 2017 until midnight on 4 May 2021.
