An independent chair appointed to lead the International Tennis Federation Independent Tribunal

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) Independent Tribunal was established by the ITF to resolve disciplinary and other disputes arising from its rules and regulations, in accordance with its Procedural Rules.

The Independent Tribunal will now be led by William Norris KC, an accomplished barrister with extensive experience across various sports disciplines. He sits on several panels such as the National Anti-Doping Panel, World Athletics Disciplinary Tribunal, the FA Independent Judicial Panel, and The Hurlingham Polo Association Appeal Panel. He also chairs the Injured Jockeys Fund. William has significant experience in selection and funding disputes across various sports, as well as with individual athletes and national bodies.

He advises and acts as an arbitrator or disciplinary panel chair/member in football cases involving disciplinary matters, doping, financial fair play, points deductions, transfer rules, and disputes between agents, players, clubs, and governing bodies.

Sport Resolutions (SR) operates the ITF Independent Tribunal and acts as its secretariat. The ITF Independent Tribunal is composed of Sport Resolutions International Panel members.

The Chair will lead the jurisdiction of the ITF Independent Tribunal, taking an active role in ensuring consistency in decision-making and in the setting and interpretation of practice and procedure throughout the Independent Tribunal. SR, the Chair and the other members of the Independent Tribunal are independent of the ITF and act independently and impartially at all times. The new Chair replaces former chair Charles Flint KC.
