An Update on the Professional Footballers Association (PFA) Review Panel
Thomas Linden QC steps down from Sport Resolutions Panel of Arbitrators and Mediators due to his new judicial responsibilities.
We congratulate Sport Resolutions Panel member Thomas Linden QC of Matrix Chambers on his appointment as a High Court Judge by The Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales.
We sincerely thank him for his invaluable work during his membership of our Panel of Arbitrators and Mediators and extend to him our best wishes on his appointment to the judiciary. As much as we are excited about Thomas’s new appointment, we regrettably confirm that he will not be able to remain on Sport Resolutions Panel of Arbitrators whilst undertaking his new judicial responsibilities. Thomas’s appointment as a High Court Judge formally takes effect on 13 January 2020.
Thomas Linden QC was appointed as the Chair of the PFA Review in March 2019 and has been progressing that Review along with other panel members Lydia Banerjee of Littleton Chambers and Ben Smiley of 4 New Square Chambers.
We would like to announce that Thomas Linden QC will be replaced by Naomi Ellenbogen QC of Littleton Chambers. The other members of the Review Panel will remain the same.
Naomi is one of the leading practitioners in the fields of employment, commercial and professional negligence law and has recently concluded the House of Lords Inquiry. She was called to the Bar in 1992 and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2010.
The handover process has already commenced to ensure the smooth continuation of the PFA Review process and its transition to the next phase.
Sport Resolutions was appointed in February 2019 to conduct the PFA Review.
