British Cycling seeks Chairs and Members for Disciplinary Panel

British Cycling is currently seeking applications for its Disciplinary Panel. The Disciplinary Panel is a pool of impartial independent decision-makers who may be called upon to form a Disciplinary Committee or Appeal Committee, as provided for in the Disciplinary Rules for Cycle Sport.

The Disciplinary Panel has jurisdiction to conduct disciplinary hearings and impose sanctions on persons or bodies subject to the Disciplinary Rules for Cycle Sport. It also appoints members to assess any objections made against Disciplinary Committee rulings.

Applications are sought for legally qualified members who will chair Disciplinary Committee hearings and also for wider Panel members who need not be legally qualified.

Members will have current or previous experience in legal practice; disciplinary procedures; judicial process; equality/ employment tribunal; or child protection and safeguarding. They will also have an understanding of sport at a grass roots and amateur level and/ or elite level, along with an ability to assess, dissect and make informed reasoning, concerning evidence and arguments brought before the Panel.

Disciplinary Committee and Appeals Committee hearings are held in Manchester, usually during normal working hours. The full Panel will rarely meet as a group except to undertake induction training and continuing professional development. Applicants for the roles of Chair must have previous experience of sitting on judicial/ quasi-judicial panels as well as experience of chairing meetings or other disciplinary panels.

The closing date for applications is Tuesday, 27 August at 9:00am. Interviews will be held by Skype wherever possible.
