The International Association of Athletics Federation (IAFF) have announced that there has been no change in the status of the Russian Athletics Federation (RUSAF).

The decision came after an IAAF council meeting in Doha where Rune Anderson, independent chairman of the IAAF taskforce, said that although progress had been made, there still remained outstanding key issues that prevent the reinstatement of the Russian organisation.

It was confirmed that all expenses sustained during the Russian crisis had been paid by RUSAF – a total of $3.2million. However, the Athletic s Integrity Unit (AIU) are still awaiting the analytical data and necessary samples from the Moscow lab to finalise which athletes will have a case to answer under the IAAF anti-doping rules.

Anderson commented there are still doubts whether RUSAF are able to enforce doping bans following recent allegations that RUSAF officials were involved in attempting to cover up doping offences.

The IAAF Task Force continues to look into the discrepancies and criteria’s met, before reporting back in the next IAAF Council meeting in September.
