New chair appointed to lead UK Anti-Doping

The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport Lisa Nandy has appointed Simon Lewis as the new Chair of UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) for a term of four years, commencing on 4 August 2025.

Simon Lewis is a practising barrister and fee-paid judge with a diverse legal background. A former first-class cricketer, he brings a strong understanding of both professional regulation and elite sport to the role.

Simon has held several non-executive board positions across a wide range of sectors, including workplace relations (ACAS), professional regulation (Social Work England and the Bar Standards Board), healthcare (within a mental health and community NHS trust), higher education (at a university recognised for its role in social mobility), as well as sports governance and charitable organisations.

As Chair, he will guide the organisation’s strategic direction and support its mission to uphold clean sport and effective anti-doping practices in the UK.
