Both First Instance and Appeal Decisions in the cases of RFU v Greg Goodfellow and Greg Goodfellow v RFU (Appeal) have been published by the National Anti-Doping Panel (NADP).

On 19 February 2019 semi-professional Rugby Union player Mr Greg Goodfellow provided a urine Sample. The Sample returned an Adverse Analytical Finding for Methasterone and was charged with Presence of a Prohibited Substance under Regulation 21.2.1 of the World Rugby Regulations.

On 11 February 2020 the Arbitral Tribunal, comprised of William Norris QC (Chair), Lorraine Johnson and Professor Dorian Haskard imposed a four year period of Ineligibility on Mr Goodfellow.

Mr Goodfellow appealed the Tribunal’s Decision. The Appeal Tribunal consisting of Charles Hollander QC, Blondel Thompson, and Professor Gordon McInnes allowed the appeal, resulting in a two-year period of Ineligibility which commenced on 29 March 2019.

A copy of the full decision can be accessed via the related documents tab on the right-hand side.

The National Anti-Doping Panel (NADP) is the United Kingdom’s independent tribunal responsible for adjudicating anti-doping disputes in sport. It is operated by Sport Resolutions and is entirely independent of UK Anti-Doping who is responsible for investigating, charging and prosecuting cases before the NADP.
