Rugby Australia to Pay Men’s and Women’s Seven Sides Equal Wage

Australia will pay both the men’s and women’s seven-a-side Rugby Union teams equally, for the first time as part of a new agreement.

The Announcement followed a deal that was struck between Rugby Australia and the Rugby Union Players' Association, which will run until 2020. As a result, the women’s XV-a-side team will now receive match payments for all Tests.

The female players will also have the benefits of a new pregnancy policy, which ensures financial security for players who become pregnant.

Australia women’s team are the current Olympic champions after winning the tournament in Rio last year.
