Glentoran FC v Irish FA

Glentoran FC v Irish FA

A decision in the matter of Glentoran FC v Irish FA has been issued by an arbitral tribunal.

On 21 April 2022, Ms Jane Bickerstaff QC, sitting as an independent sole arbitrator, heard the appeal of Glentoran FC against a decision of the Challenge Cup Committee of the Irish Football Association pursuant to signed arbitration agreement.

It was found that Glentoran FC had fielded an ineligible player in the Irish Cup quarter final match against Newry City AFC.

As a result Ms Bickerstaff QC dismissed the appeal and ruled that Newry City AFC would go through to the semi-final.

The written decision of independent sole arbitrator Jane Bickerstaff QC, appointed by Sport Resolutions, can be accessed via the related documents tab on the right-hand side.
