WADA 2023 Prohibited List now in force

The World Anti-Doping Agency 2023 List of Prohibited Substances and Methods came into force on 1 January 2023.

The key point from the 2023 List is that cannabis remains present and is still prohibited In-Competition when the urinary concentration exceeds a threshold of 150 ng/mL. If athletes can prove that the drug was taken Out-of-Competition and was solely for recreational purposes rather than relating to sporting performance then the period of ineligibility can be reduced to only one month.

The painkiller tramadol will be added to the 2024 List but hasn’t been added to the 2023 List so that there is a full 12 months where athletes are their support teams can be made aware that from 1 January 2024 it will be prohibited.

The 2023 List can be accessed here
