World Athletics v Daniel Kinyua Wanjiru

A decision in the case of World Athletics against Daniel Kinyua Wanjiru has been issued by the Disciplinary Tribunal.

On 10 April 2020 the AIU issued Mr Wanjiru with a Notice of Charge for an Anti-Doping Rule Violation contrary to Article 2.2. of the ADR (Use of a Prohibited Substance or Prohibited Method) in connection with abnormalities in the haematological module of his Athlete Biological Passport.  

The Disciplinary Tribunal comprised of Christopher Quinlan QC (Chair), Paul Ciucur and Sètondji Roland Adjovi determined that an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) had been established pursuant to Article 2.2 of the 2019 IAAF Rules, and as a result a four-year period of Ineligibility has been imposed commencing on 9 December 2019. Mr Wanjiru’s competition results from 9 March 2019 are disqualified.
