70% of 2026 Winter Olympic Games tickets sold, but Paralympic sales slower than expected

70% of 2026 Winter Olympic Games tickets sold, but Paralympic sales slower than expected

The international Olympic Committee (IOC) has shared that 70% of 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games tickets have been sold and that it hopes that the torch relay will continue to drive sales. However, sales for the Winter Paralympics are notably lagging behind.

The Winter Games will take place between 6-22 February 2026, and the Winter Paralympics will take place between 6-15 March 2026. It has been reported that 1.4 million Winter Olympic Games tickets were issued and nearly 1 million have been sold. For the Paralympics, 255,000 have been issued, but the number that have been sold was not made public.

During Black Friday, in an attempt to trigger sales, 3 days of 20% discounts was introduced and anyone who purchased tickets for the Olympic and Paralympic Games could access ski passes for €8 across every resort in Lombardy between 9-22 December. The additional tickets released for the opening ceremony and the men's hockey final sold out within hours of the incentive, according to Inside the Games.

Olympic Games Executive Director Christophe Dubi expressed: “We are close to 70% at this stage…

It is always a little harder. There (Paralympic ticket sales), we are trailing. We hope the torch relay will help.”

IOC President Kirsty Coventry voiced: “We are 58 days away and the Games are just around the corner…

We are very impressed and happy with what we are seeing and hearing. We need to keep our finger on the pulse.”

Despite the major event only being around 2 months away now, several venues for the Games also still remain unfinished or under construction, such as the ice hockey arena.
