The Football Association v Lucas Paquetá

The Football Association v Lucas Paquetá

A decision in the case of The Football Association against Lucas Paquetá has been issued by the Independent Regulatory Commission following a hearing that took place between 17 March and 4 June 2025.

The Independent Regulatory Commission consisted of His Honour Phillip Sycamore CBE (Chair), Christopher Stoner KC, and Stuart Ripley.

Mr Paquetá was charged with four alleged breaches of FA Rule E5.1 in relation to his conduct during the club’s Premier League fixtures against:

  • Leicester City on 12 November 2022
  • Aston Villa on 12 March 2023
  • Leeds United on 21 May 2023
  • AFC Bournemouth on 12 August 2023

The Commission found that the FA Rule E5.1 charges (Charges 1–4) were not proven and therefore dismissed. However, the FA Rule F3 charges (Charges 5 and 6) were found proven, with sanction and costs to be determined.

Sport Resolutions provided independent administrative support to the Independent Regulatory Commission.

The written decision can be found here.
