A decision in the matter of the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) v Asbel Kiprop has been issued by the Disciplinary Tribunal. Mr Kiprop, an Olympic gold medallist and triple world champion was charged by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) under the IAAF Anti-Doping Rules (ADR) after testing positive for the presence of “S2.

Peptide Hormones, Growth Factors, Related Substances and Mimetics/erythropoietin (EPO)” (“EPO”), on 27 November 2017. On 21 March 2019, a hearing was held before the Panel, comprised of Michael Beloff QC (Chair), Maidie Oliveau and Patrick Grandjean.

The Panel found that Mr Kiprop had committed anti-doping rule violations, pursuant to Art 2.1 and/or 2.2 of the ADR and a four (4) year period of ineligibility has been imposed on Mr Kiprop commencing on the date of the Panel’s Award.
