Sport Resolutions Online Discussion in association with Winston Strawn LLP

We are delighted to announce that an online discussion will take place on Tuesday 7th December 2021 in association with Winston & Strawn LLP where we will be covering two major topics.

The event will take place via Zoom webinar consisting of two sessions spread over an afternoon. The sessions will be chaired by a respected sports presenter and will start at 2pm UK time to accommodate different time zones.

TOPICS

Session 1 - Review of the College Athletes US Supreme Court judgment

The online discussion will kick off with the first session on the College Athletes US Supreme Court judgment (NCAA anti-trust lawsuit) where Jeffrey Kessler, Co-Executive Chair of Winston & Strawn LLP and the lead counsel representing athletes in the NCAA scholarship antitrust class-action lawsuit, will set out the issues and the findings, and will assess its relevance in other sports, countries, and jurisdiction. Session 2 - Transgender Athlete Rights 

In the second session our speakers David Grevemberg (Chief Innovation and Partnerships Officer at the Centre for Sport and Human Rights), Dr Emma Hilton (a developmental biologist at the University of Manchester), Dr Nicola Williams (a research scientist specialising in human biology and spokeswoman for Fair Play For Women), and Joanna Harper (a visiting fellow for transgender athletic performance at Loughborough University) will discuss transgender athletes’ rights from different perspectives such as human rights, legal, scientific, and sociological.
