WADA Code 2027 and the Rise of SARMs: What You Need to Know

This session will provide an overview of the key changes coming into effect with the 2027 WADA Code, including enhanced sanctioning flexibility, strengthened procedural fairness, independent case oversight, expanded athlete protections, and updates to testing and investigation standards. Attendees will gain insight into how these changes affect athletes, support personnel, anti-doping organisations, and legal and advisory professionals, and explore practical approaches to applying them effectively.

The session will examine emerging behaviours such the rising use of Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators (SARMs) in both competitive and recreational settings, including the influence of social media on their growing popularity. Participants will explore the regulatory, health, and ethical challenges posed by these trends, equipping them with up-to-date knowledge to address evolving doping risks.
