Badminton Europe Confederation invites applications for three Independent External Member positions on its Nominations Panel.

The Nominations Panel is established under Rule 21 of the BEC Rules and plays a role in supporting the election of the BEC Board of Directors. It will assess candidates against the published criteria and provide a non-binding assessment of each candidate.

Under the transitional arrangements set out in Rule 21.12, the first three Independent External Members will be appointed by the BEC Board of Directors following this open recruitment process. Their initial appointment will run until the 2027 Annual Delegates’ Meeting, at which point they will be proposed for election for a term running to and including the 2031 Annual Delegates’ Meeting.

Required Skills

Applicants should have:

  • the ability to assess information objectively and reach balanced conclusions;
  • an understanding of good governance in sport;
  • experience of working with confidential or sensitive information;
  • clear written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • the ability to work constructively within a small independent panel;
  • experience of working in an international and/or multicultural environment;
  • sufficient availability to conduct the role between 10 January 2027 and 01 March 2027, including the period following 10 February 2027 should candidates be nominated by the Board of Directors.
  • Similar availability for the period leading up to the BEC Annual Delegates’ Meetings in 2029 and 2031
  • Experience in governance, law, ethics, compliance, elections, appointments, human resources or international sport administration will be considered an asset

Previous involvement in badminton is not required.

Application deadline and assessment process

Candidates should submit their applications directly to BEC using the application form provided below, together with their CV and a short motivation letter, by Monday, 26 October 2026.

Following the application period, shortlisted candidates will be independently assessed by Sport Resolutions against the published criteria. The outcome of this assessment will be provided to BEC to support its appointment process.
